Seattle in the summer

This is truly honestly what a sunny day view is like of Seattle. Mt. Rainier looms in the background, so eerie sometimes because it looks so silent and so close by you could touch it. Parang mega sized scoop of vanilla ice cream over Mayon. But the Cascades, when snow-draped, look like hills when compared to the terrific views we get of the Himalayas in Ktm.

We've been lucky with a majority of sunny days during our 30-day stay here. David did the lawn, cut down a dead evergreen bush, planted 8 cypress trees against a giant concrete wall separating I-5 and our rental, packed two boxes of "stuff" for Pema who left the nest for the art offerings of Brooklyn, did a fab dessert for friends who were also recipient of a nautical-theme quilt made by Yours Truly, the dessert had a base of stewed apples (planted by David in our front yard) and ripe juicy sweet purple plums (planted by David in our front yard).

And me, I did some intermittent beating of our Tibetan rugs, shaking off a year's dust on the face of our lounge thangka, washed off fabrics with lots of fur from Hayley our Fat Cat. Can't face cleaning the 47 thekis in our collection, since they are placed high up on shelves near the ceiling. And did some grid paper adapting Bhutanese textile designs, suitable for quilt patchwork. Did 15 so far.

But it will soon be time to back to Bangkok after we get our retirement visas through the Royal Thai consulate in Portland, Oregon.
